Angels come back against Cubs but fall short

On a sunny Sunday at Hydebank Park the Belfast Angels would start slowly, quickly falling 7-2 behind a determined Cubs team. With Sean Shackley leading the charge and Darwin Sanchez, David Gray and Angel-for-the-day Vik Scott trying to cover the outfield a man short, the home team would scrap back to pull the game even at 10 in the 6th inning. The Cubs would drive in another four to get their noses in front but the Angels would not be deterred and clawed one back. Tight defence would give Jonny Craven's team a chance in the last but even after scoring twice more and the tying and winning runs on the bases, the Cubs did enough to hold on for the victory in a very entertaining game.

Craven should be happy with the fightback spirit shown by his team which will hopefully be carried through until next week when the Bangor Buccaneers will be welcomed to (a hopefully sunny again) Hydebank Park.
