Gone fishin'
After the disappointment of the loss to the reigning league champion Belfast Sliders, the Angels will travel to glorious North Down tomorrow
in an effort to right the ship as the wheels begin to turn on the 2016 Softball Ulster season.
Standing in the way of Jay Slevin and Jonny Craven's team is the new kids on the block, the Bangor Mariners. Expanding out from the Buccaneers, the Ms will be looking to improve on their own first outing, a 32-12 loss to the Aces of the Belfast Softball Club.
Nothing will be taken for granted however as Craven and Slevin will be looking to climb back up the standings before too many teams get a foothold on the league table ahead of them.
Looking back on Monday nights defeat, the Angels will take heart in the power and consistent output of their batting order, with both Melvin and Colin Woods causing outfields to take a few steps back every at-bat and Shane Hanna's blistering speed punishing any errors.
Rookie Vicky Thompson will be looking to solidify her place in the batting order and at third base; growing in confidence after a few first game nerves, she will no doubt be looking to build on a stronger winter training as we (hopefully) will see some signs of spring (or, at least, fewer signs of winter) at Bangor Rugby Club on Sunday.
