Last stand

After a long season of soaring highs, devastating near misses and injuries, the Belfast Angels and the Belfast Northstars wrap up their 2016 campaigns this weekend as they travel to Bangor and Dublin respectively.

With the Razorbacks already having concluded their first season, the Halos will be looking to finish strong against a dangerous free-swinging Bangor side which put them to the sword at the end of July at Hydebank, the final result being 34-8, helping them leapfrog over the Angels in the Softball Ulster standings.

Now looking up at their opponents, the Angels know full well that the Aces arent that far in the rear view and will be looking to cement their position in the table.

As is always the case, there will be positives and negatives as well as plenty of talking points to reflect upon. One more solid set of seven innings will be expected however before the curtain falls on the season.

The Northstars will be looking to finish a strong season with a visit to Corkagh Park to square off against the West Clare Dolphins. With the pennant race locked up and home field advantage guaranteed, the Stars have no desire to take their foot off the gas this weekend. Coach Shackley will have the opportunity to try new options at key positions moving into the playoffs.
