Woods sweeps Baseball Ireland awards
Another weekend, another armful of silverware.
After picking up a Softball Ulster MVP and club MVPs for the Angels and the Northstars at the club awards, Melvin Woods was celebrated once again at the Baseball Ireland league awards this past weekend at the Generator Hostel in Dublin.
In a season that can only be described as dominant with bat or ball, Woods took the Jimmy Archer Silver Slugger award, given to the best batter in the league, the Will Beglane award for the best pitcher and finally the Jimmy Walsh award for the Most Valuable Player in the league.
He was also on hand to collect the Belfast Northstars' awards for winning the B League North and the B League championship.
'The BASA are incredibly proud of Melvin's accomplishments this season; he has been top of his game all year but he also brings a joy to playing softball and baseball that is inspiring to those around him. He deserves every accolade.' said a BASA representative.
